Meet Jenn FM – Adult Album Alternative for Women

In all of its proposals for CCD, Harvard has focused on initiatives that support the cornerstones of artist development: discovery, exposure and support. Our focus in the Jenn FM proposal has been to give (where possible) funding to artists that are often overlooked such as women, Aboriginal and artists performing in niche genres.

Funding will be invested in an endowment fund ensuring bursaries for students in the music departments at these schools in perpetuity.

Harvard is one of the original media partners in this fund and will continue through the Jenn FM application to ensure training and educational opportunities are made available to Aboriginal youth.

This is an expansion of the support provided by Harvard through its Calgary licence. Given the demand and enthusiasm exhibited by artists and groups for funding to subsidize their travel expenses and broaden their exposure and fan base, Harvard proposes to increase the support we give to this fund.

This is an initiative of the Canadian Independent Recording Production Association (“CIRPA”) who with the support of Heritage Canada, puts together showcases for Canadian talent at music symposiums and conferences around the world. Harvard proposes to fund the travel costs of groups attending these international venues. This will allow even more Canadian talent to have access to lucrative and “hard to reach” international markets.

Harvard will provide funding to ensure that ECCS can continue to promote and expose local composers and create broadcast quality recordings.

Harvard will help the festival in its goal to develop new artists by providing the funding to expand the number of artists who appear and to provide an opportunity for women folk artists in particular, to play before a large audience and to be compensated.

As, Western Canada’s largest showcase for Canadian talent, New Music West has agreed to use the funding from Jenn FM to showcase women artists and in particular New and Emerging artists on a stage dedicated to their presentation.

Harvard will provide funding be used to showcase woman artists.

Harvard will provide funding over and above the required amounts.
